Sidmouth Esplanade to be resurfaced as part of £1million package of town works

Local News by Beth Sharp 25th Nov 2020

More than £1million worth of resurfacing roadworks is taking place in Sidmouth, including along the entire Esplanade.

Sidmouth County Councillor and Cabinet member for Highway Management Stuart Hughes has said he is thrilled the works are finally taking place which means drivers will notice a 'real difference' and a 'much smoother ride'.

The work along The Esplanade is due to be completed this week, with further plans for resurfacing two sections of the A375.

This will be carried out next February between Drakes Avenue and Malden Lane and from the junction with Temple Gardens down through the town to the New Street Junction.

Work on parts of Arcot Road is set to start in a couple of weeks as well as on a section of road that joins the A3052 at the The Bowd.

A small section of Bulverton Road will also see works taking place.

Cllr Hughes said: "I am absolutely delighted about it. These are roads that I have been going on about for a long time, and at last it is good to see them being done thanks to the money that has come from Government.

"It is so good to see some of the funding being spent in Sidmouth, people will really notice a real difference both driving and cycling it will be a much smoother ride."
