The CEO of Sidmouth Hospice at Home, a charity that provides palliative care, visited 10 Downing Street for a local charity champion's reception this week.

Hosted by Stuart Andrew MP, the receptions are intended to highlight the impact of local charities and community groups.

CEO Alasdair Cameron was nominated for the honour by East Devon MP Simon Jupp in recognition of the services Sidmouth Hospice at Home provides for people with life-limiting illnesses in the Sid Valley.

Mr Jupp said: "I was proud to join Alasdair Cameron at 10 Downing Street for the local charity champion's reception.

"Al leads an amazing team that provides superb hospice care in the Sid Valley. A huge thank you to the team for everything they do!"

Alasdair Cameron said: "It was a privilege to attend the reception at Number 10 on behalf of all of the team of staff and volunteers at Sidmouth Hospice at Home.

"The recognition reinforces the wonderful job that our dedicated team of nurses, staff and volunteers do to service our community with our cutting-edge 24/7 specialist palliative care provision.

"Sidmouth Hospice at Home is the only charity that provides specialist palliative care services to Sidmouth, Sidford, Sidbury, Newton Poppleford and Salcombe Regis."
