Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat lifeguards will be visiting local schools over the summer term to talk to pupils about sea safety.

The lifeguards are currently patrolling the beach on weekends only.

They will speak to students about various safety-related scenarios, such as who to call if you see someone in trouble on the water (999, ask for the Coastguard).

Last year the Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat lifeguards responded to over 100 incidents, from weaver fish stings and missing children, to broken bones and head injuries.

The service has asked the public to email [email protected] if they know of a school that would like the lifeguards to visit.
