Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat rescues walker and dog cut off by tide at Budleigh
Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat rescued a walker and their dog cut off by the tide on Sunday (19 February).
The charity was paged just after 11.45am when an individual had become cut off by the tide after walking around Otterton Ledge from Budleigh Salterton beach to get their dog, which had fallen from the top.
Both were rescued and returned safely to Budleigh Salterton.
A spokesperson said: "Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was tasked to assist a member of the public who had walked around Otterton Ledge from Budleigh beach to assist their dog, after it had fallen from the top. Subsequently, the pair had been cut off by the tide.
"Once on scene, the Lifeboat put a crewman ashore with our rescue sled, and recovered the dog and its owner to the Lifeboat.
"Both were then safely dropped off to the Coastguard Team at Budleigh beach.
"Dog walkers and owners are reminded to please keep their dogs on leads when walking near cliff tops and edges.
"Many thanks to all involved."
