Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat has announced that it will be providing a lifeguard service on Sidmouth beach this summer – and it's looking for people to join the team.

The service will be provided in partnership with East Devon District Council, and will start on July 19.

The lifeboat charity is inviting applications for full-time and part-time lifeguarding duties, and says it's offering good rates of pay. Applicants need to be over 18, physically fit and competent in the sea, and also to have good 'people skills'.

Those who're accepted will need to attend a week's training from June 21 to obtain the SLSGB surf lifeguard qualification, followed by a two-day casualty care/advanced first aid course.

Anyone who's interested is asked to email [email protected] for an application form.
