Visitors to Sidmouth beach tomorrow (Thurs) are urged to be extra careful due to the weather forecast predicting strong winds.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth Lifeboat said: "We are expecting strong easterly winds in Sidmouth tomorrow and Friday.

"These conditions will make it dangerous to be in the water around the rock islands.

"We are asking all visitors to Sidmouth beach to avoid swimming near the rock islands in these conditions, and to take extra care when visiting the coast during these extraordinary times, to avoid putting extra strain on the already very busy emergency services.

"Although Sidmouth Lifeboat's boathouse is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, our volunteer crew are still on call 24/7."
