Sidmouth Lifeboat launched this afternoon after reports of two young boys being swept out to sea.

The Sidmouth Lifeboat crew responded to reports of two boys being swept out to sea near Budleigh Salterton at around 2.25pm.

Crew members Guy Bennett, Guy Russell, Maddie Todd and Phil Marish set off for the mouth of the River Otter to investigate.

As the crew were making their way to the area a report came through stating that the boys had safely made their way back to shore.

The lifeboat continued to the scene to confirm the area was safe and then stood down and returned to station.
