Eagle-eyed residents may have spotted Sidmouth Lifeboat's Peter & Barbara Truesdale, the independent charity's Arctic 24 inshore lifeboat, being hoisted onto a trailer on the seafront earlier this week.

Do not worry the lifesaving vessel will soon be returning to Sidmouth, after it receives some essential maintenance work.

Sidmouth Lifeboat is a fully independent lifeboat charity. 100% of the money raised locally is used to keep the charity's boats maintained and its crew trained and equipped.

A spokesperson for Sidmouth Lifeboat said: "The boat is heading off to receive some essential maintenance. We will still be on call 24/7 during this time.

"We are only able to carry out vital work such as this thanks to everyone who donates to Sidmouth Lifeboat.

"A huge thank you to everyone who supports us!"
