Sidmouth Town Band will begin its annual summer season this Sunday (28 May) at 8pm in Connaught Gardens.

This summer will see the band perform a total of 15 concerts every Sunday evening until 3 September.

Later in the season, the band will be performing its Last Night of the Proms concert on Saturday 19 August at 7.30pm. TV and radio personality Jeremy Vine will host the evening, and another special guest in attendance will be renowned mezzo soprano Marie Elliott.

A Sidmouth Town Band spokesperson said: "Proving incredibly popular every year, the concerts offer a relaxing way to enjoy some of the best brass band music in the South West, all in the setting of the beautiful Connaught Gardens.

"Playing a wide variety of music including modern compositions, show and film music, traditional classical and some new pieces composed locally, the concerts are always well attended.

"It is a reflection on the band's commitment to providing entertainment for visitors and residents alike in Sidmouth that they can perform for the entire summer and something not undertaken by many bands in the country."

Some deck chairs are available but it is advised to bring your own seating if you can due to high demand.

Ticket information for the Last Night of the Proms concert will be published shortly.
