Sidmouth Town Council is inviting individuals, community groups and businesses to submit 'expressions of interest' and proposals for what they would like to do with a former water company storage building in the town.
The town council is particularly keen to receive proposals which promote the town, reflect the new 'Visit Sidmouth' branding and principles of the Sid Valley Neighbourhood Plan.
The criteria for proposed projects include how much it promotes wellbeing of people and the community, how much it enhances or preserves heritage, how much it contributes to the economy, and more. Click here for the full list of criteria.
The building
The Ham Utility Building, previously owned by South West Water, is located at the northern end of the Ham on Riverside Road. The interior is completely empty and has a floor space of 3.9m x 7.5m and is 2.5m to the ceiling inside.
It has one access door and water, power and waste connections, but no windows at present.
How you can get in touch
To get in touch, email your expression of interest by 5pm on Tuesday 30 November 2021 to Town Clerk Mr C E Holland at [email protected]
In your email, you should include:
"1. An outline of your proposal including if it is for community purpose and/or commercial;
- The length of and terms of lease you would prefer to see offered;
- If a commercial activity, the approximate level of rent you would be prepared to pay per annum;
- Details showing how it reflects at least one or more of the criteria set out in Appendix A."
The council has said that it is currently 'only investigating the possible interest that the building may generate and what groups could achieve in the space available', but may initiate further discussions with a view to future agreement.
