The MET Office has issued a UK weather warning as Storm Brendan rolls in from the west promising gale-force winds and rainfall.

Much of the UK, especially on the west coast and southern regions, have been given a yellow weather warning for the next three days.

Strong winds are expected to develop tomorrow, which could cause some disruption.

People should expect delays to travel, with the possibility of a short term loss of power and other services.

People living in coastal areas, such as Sidmouth, are advised to stay clear of the sea while waves are larger and more dangerous.

Below is the MET Office weather forecast for the South West of England over the next few days, as the region is hit by storm weather.

Today (Monday 13):

A breezy start, with some scattered showers across the region. Into the afternoon, heavy rain will push in from the west and continue through the afternoon. The winds will remain strong throughout. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Once the rain has cleared, it will be mostly dry and clear. Although, there could be some coastal showers. It will remain breezy. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday (14 January):

A mostly dry start, barring some localised showers. Heavy rain then arrives late morning, and will continue throughout the day. Winds remaining strong. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Breezy with heavy rain early on Wednesday, but clearing later in the day. Remaining breezy on Thursday with rain later. Mostly dry on Friday, barring some showers in the west.
