Sidmouth workhub to reopen helping commuters avoid the trip to Exeter

By The Editor 15th Jun 2020

The Lighthouse Sidmouth will soon be reopening with new Coronavirus precautions.

The workhub, which offers small business owners, entrepreneurs and freelancers a calm space in the centre of Sidmouth from which to work, will reopen on Monday, June 29.

The Lighthouse, based on Mill Street behind the old NatWest Bank building, is the brainchild of 'corporate escapees' Cathy Debenham and Louise Thompson.

Louise spent 17 years in the advertising and publishing industry, while Cathy has 30 years experience in marketing, journalism, PR, internal communications and public speaking.

The pair worked hard to create a business hub and co-working space in the Sid Valley. After a year of work behind the scenes Cathy and Louise opened The Lighthouse in January last year.

Speaking today Cathy said: "We can't wait to welcome back our members, and to meet new ones, all appropriately socially distanced, of course!

"Full COVID safety preparations have been made and will be emailed to all members, and displayed inside.

"If you don't want to go back to the commute into Exeter, have fully embraced flexible working over lockdown - and would like a calm, office to work in a few days a week that is NOT your kitchen table - then check out our membership options (from just £35) that will give you an office, right here in the heart of Sidmouth."

Members have access to a clutter-free work environment, super-fast broadband, opportunities to collaborate as well as access to community and networking events.

The Lighthouse is a community interest company, a type of company introduced by the Government in 2005, designed for social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good.
