A woman was rescued in January after slipping off the coast path and falling 100 feet onto a ledge.

February

Connaught Gardens becomes Sidmouth's latest wedding venue

Connaught Gardens became licensed to host legal marriages this year, and the first legal marriage was held there in August.

March

More than 250 Ash dieback infected trees to be felled in Sidmouth

It was announced in March that more than 250 trees in Sidmouth were to be felled due to ash dieback disease.

'I'm very, very excited' - Fillfull eco-shop to open in Sidmouth on Monday

A new plastic-free eco-shop opened its doors on Fore Street in April.

Internet 'milestone' for Sidmouth as Jurassic Fibre extends its network to the town

Jurassic Fibre, founded by a Sidmouth resident in 2018, announced plans in June to roll out ultrafast internet speeds in the Sidmouth area.

July

First ever extreme heat warning issued for Sidmouth

An extreme heat warning was issued for the first time by the Met Office in July and lasted several days.

August

'A credit to themselves and Sidmouth college' – principal's pride at A-level results

August saw Sidmouth College students receive their A-level and GCSE results, and praised by the principal for their hard work during the pandemic.

September

VIDEO: work underway in Sidmouth to clear the river bed in The Byes

The Environment Agency removed excessive gravel in the Byes area of the River Sid in September.

October

Sidmouth: Dartmoor railway line returns after almost 50 years

It was announced in October that the railway line between Okehampton and Exeter would reopen in November.

November

Sidmouth: Foot and cycle path plans for Sidbury to Sidford agreed by council

A strategy for a pedestrian and cycle path connecting Sidbury and Sidford was agreed by Devon County Council in November.

December
