Staff at The Filling Station 'excited' to welcome back customers
The owners of Sidmouth cafe and takeaway The Filling Station have told Nub News they are excited to welcome back their customers as they reopen tomorrow (July 4).
The cafe, on Cross Lane, will be offering its usual range of tasty sandwiches, salads, pasties and sweet treats, as well as some new specials developed over the lock down period.
Co-owner Roz Kendall has been experimenting with more baking and The Filling Station will now be offering cream teas in a box to takeaway.
Both sweet and savoury cream teas are available to takeaway as well as a new takeaway Ploughman's box, featuring 'lovely' locally sourced pork pies. Takeaway fruit salads will also be available, with or without clotted cream.
"We are very much looking forward to reopening on Saturday with all the old staff and some lovely new specials," said Roz.
The cafe has been busy taking the necessary precautions to open under the Government's social distancing and Covid-19 rules.
A screen has been put up over the counter, staff will be wearing face masks, surfaces will be cleaned regualrly, the tables have been spaced further apart, the cafe will be regularly deep cleaned and hand sanitiser will be available to customers.
Due to the Government's rules condiments and cutlery will be provided on request.
"We're doing a lot more homemade products, all our cakes will be homemade going forward," said Roz.
"We are so looking forward to welcoming our customers back and if I could give you all a hug I would. We are excited to welcome you all back and hope you help to support local businesses.
"It will be the same familiar team myself, Luke and Abbie."
