Swiss twin town visitors welcomed to Sidmouth
Sidmouth Tourist Information Centre welcomed a group from Sidmouth's twin town last week.
The visitors, from Le Locle in Switzerland, were hosted by members of Sidmouth's twinning circle and reportedly had a busy schedule touring the town and nearby villages as well as attending a civic reception.
Le Locle stands at 3,100 ft above sea level, is situated close to the border with France and is famous for watchmaking.
It had a population of 9,864 in 2020, in contrast to Sidmouth's 12,569 recorded in 2011.
Eighty-eight per cent of the town's population speaks French, while four per cent speak Italian, and 1.9 per cent German.
