Tinkerbell the Owl and Andrew the Busker entertain visitors to Sidmouth's Oasis Cafe

By Philippa Davies 17th Jun 2021

The organisers of Sidmouth's Oasis Café say they've had an 'absolutely amazing' few weeks after it reopened last month.

The community café is open every Wednesday lunchtime at the Dissenters Hall, and anyone can drop in for a cup of tea or coffee, homemade cakes and friendly chat with volunteers.

It was set up last September as a mental wellbeing initiative in response to the stress and misery of the Covid pandemic, but had to close – and cancel its planned Christmas activities – when stricter restrictions were introduced in December.

Now it's up and running again, with entertainment each week.

On June 2, Tinkerbell the Little Owl visited with her handler Nigel Palmer, and yesterday (June 16) there was live music with Andrew the Britborn Busker.

Children's activities have also been introduced.

The café is open from 12.45 until 2.15 every Wednesday.
