Two arrests have been made in connection with the nine Covid deaths at Sidmouth's Holmesley care home.

Both are members of staff, and have been arrested on suspicion of wilful neglect.

A 57-year-old woman from Sidmouth and a 30-year-old man from Exeter are being held for questioning.

Police say no other arrests are planned in relation to the ongoing investigation.

Since February 27, nine deaths have been reported at the Holmesley care home, all believed to be related to the coronavirus outbreak.

On Thursday, March 11, police revealed that they were investigating the circumstances of the outbreak.

The investigation is being led by Devon & Cornwall Police in partnership with a multi-agency safeguarding response in order to maintain the welfare of the care home's residents.
