Owner of the Pride Hair Studio in Newton Poppleford has reached out to others locally in the hairdressing industry to unite in the face of uncertainty.

31-year-old Elena Channing, who lives in Colaton Raleigh, posted on social media inviting hairdressers and salon owners in the area to form a group to 'discuss the way forward when the time comes to reopen.'

Nub News spoke to Elena, who explained: "There is a lot of false information circulating and confusion about when we can reopen salons and what protective measures will need to be put in place.

"A lot of people are desperate to get their hair done and are getting quite angsty about when that might be; however a lot needs to be addressed before that can happen to ensure the safety of staff and clients.

"For a start, we need to know what Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is expected to be worn and where we get it from.

"At the moment I have no idea. I'm relying solely on what's being updated on the National Hairdressers Federation, so it made sense to form a group locally to share information and ideas.

"There has been great response so far, which is positive because this is a difficult time for all of us so it makes sense for everyone to be on the same page.

"Our industry is quite female dominated and can be pretty competitive, so it's nice to bring everyone together to support each other."

Elena, Rianne and Grace at Pride Hair Studio wished their clients well and can't wait to see them again soon!
