UPDATE: Cliff fall death not being treated as suspicious

Police enquiries are continuing after a man died when his vehicle went over cliffs in Sidmouth yesterday morning [November 6].

Emergency services were called to Peak Hill Road at 9.25am after the car left the clifftop and landed on the beach. A man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police enquiries are continuing to confirm the man's identity and to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

Emergency services recovered the car from the beach yesterday evening. The beach has been reopened to the public.

Police, HM Coastguard teams and helicopter, ambulance, Sidmouth Lifeboat and the fire service attended the incident yesterday.
