Sidmouth residents are being invited to join a new WhatsApp group set up by the Government to provide trustworthy information on the coronavirus pandemic.

The new free to use service aims to provide official, trustworthy and timely information and advice about coronavirus (COVID-19), and will further reduce the burden on NHS services.

Devon Trading Standards Service has issued a warning to Sidmouth residents and businesses to be aware of fraudsters who are trying to exploit fear and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

The outbreak of coronavirus has seen an increase in scams that include counterfeit medical kits that claim to prevent or cure the disease and fake online coronavirus resources which can contain damaging software.

On-street parking enforcement patrols have been temporarily relaxed in Sidmouth by Devon County Council.

In order to help residents parking outside their homes while working from home or self-isolating during the Coronavirus outbreak, the county council's parking enforcement teams will reduce enforcement on certain roads – although double yellow lines will still be enforced.
