On-street parking enforcement patrols have been temporarily relaxed in Sidmouth by Devon County Council.

In order to help residents parking outside their homes while working from home or self-isolating during the Coronavirus outbreak, the county council's parking enforcement teams will reduce enforcement on certain roads – although double yellow lines will still be enforced.

Sidmouth charity Sid Valley Help has updated its list of local businesses that offer telephone shopping and home delivery.

The charity has produced a booklet, available to the town's residents via its website, listing the various businesses continuing to operate during the coronavirus lock down.

Devon County Council has closed Sidmouth Recycling Centre after the Prime Minister's announcement last night that the country is going into lock down.

All 19 of Devon County Council's recycling centres have been closed until further notice effective immediately.

After last night's ministerial announcement, putting the UK on a form of lockdown, Devon and Cornwall police have issued a response clarifying what these measures mean for the local community.

Sidmouth has gone into effective lockdown this evening following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's nationwide TV broadcast in which he laid down stringent new rules in a bid to battle coronavirus.

More than 6,650 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the UK, but the actual number of cases is estimated to be much higher.

Train users in Sidmouth will see months of disruption and refunds are being offered to advance and season tickets owners in new emergency measures announced today.

According to the Department for Transport only key workers should be travelling on trains for the foreseeable future.

East Devon District Council has decided to close all public toilets, play parks and gardens in Sidmouth after fresh advice from the Government.

Beaches will remain open but signs will be put up reminding beach goers about social distancing.

Sidmouth Swimming Pool users are being given advice on the membership costs after the centre's operator, LED Community Leisure, closed the pool after Government advice.

The pool was closed after the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, instructed all UK leisure centres to close as soon as possible in a statement over the weekend.

Firefighters were called to Sidmouth to deal with kitchen fire at the home of an 'elderly' Sidmouth resident yesterday (March 22).

Fire crews from Sidmouth, Ottery St Mary and Exmouth were initially sent to the scene on Manor Road.
