On-street parking enforcement patrols have been temporarily relaxed in Sidmouth by Devon County Council.

In order to help residents parking outside their homes while working from home or self-isolating during the Coronavirus outbreak, the county council's parking enforcement teams will reduce enforcement on certain roads – although double yellow lines will still be enforced.

After last night's ministerial announcement, putting the UK on a form of lockdown, Devon and Cornwall police have issued a response clarifying what these measures mean for the local community.

Sidmouth has gone into effective lockdown this evening following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's nationwide TV broadcast in which he laid down stringent new rules in a bid to battle coronavirus.

More than 6,650 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the UK, but the actual number of cases is estimated to be much higher.

Sidmouth Swimming Pool users are being given advice on the membership costs after the centre's operator, LED Community Leisure, closed the pool after Government advice.

The pool was closed after the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, instructed all UK leisure centres to close as soon as possible in a statement over the weekend.
