Discussions will be taking place this week about the future of Jacob's Ladder in Sidmouth.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) will be discussing a recommendation from EDDC's Capital Strategy and Allocation Group to pass responsibility for Jacob's Ladder and the railings along Sidmouth Seafront to the town council.

Following the recent closure of the Sidmouth Age Concern centre, located on the Hight Street, Age Concern Exmouth and District reached out to Sidmouth residents who may still require the services provided by the charity organisation.

In a statement released today (January 3), Age Concern Exmouth and District wrote: "Unfortunately, due to the challenging economic climate and slow uptake of our Home Support Service, the [Sidmouth] centre was unable to cover the costs of having a physical presence in the town.

Marks and Spencer Exebridges has donated truckloads of carrots and parsnips to hungry donkeys this Christmas. In the spirit of seasonal giving, M&S' generous act was met with delight by staff and donkeys alike at The Donkey Sanctuary's headquarters in Sidmouth, Devon.

Instead of letting sacks full of carrots and parsnips go to waste, Farm Groom Rosie Baker was thrilled to collect the food retailer's donation in order to put it to better use: in the bellies of hundreds of rescued and relinquished donkeys and mules.
