Liberal Democrats have said that there could be 'no guarantee' of how Independent candidate Claire Wright would vote regarding Brexit if she were elected in East Devon.

Unite to Remain last week identified 60 seats where a deal had been struck between the Liberal Democrats, Plaid Cymru and the Green Party, in a move to defeat Conservative candidates, including in Exeter and Totnes.

With a General Election approaching Sidmouth residents are being reminded to ensure they are registered to vote in this important poll.

In order to vote, residents must be on the electoral register and East Devon District Council is urging residents not currently registered at their address to make sure that they register in time.

As we pay our respects to those fallen in times of war, The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth has been looking back at the role of the mules, donkeys and horses that rode into battle with our troops and often sacrificed their lives alongside them.

At the beginning of the First World War, the British Army owned just 25,000 horses. Nowhere near the amount they would require on the front line, they purchased or conscripted another 165,000.

Campaign group Unite to Remain has pledged its support for Independent Parliamentary candidate Claire Wright for East Devon in December's General Election despite other remain parties not standing down.

The organisation behind a Remain alliance has backed independent candidate Claire Wright as its preferred general election candidate in East Devon despite rival parties failing to agree a truce in the seat.

A former BBC journalist, originally from Devon, has been announced as the new Conservative parliamentary candidate for East Devon.

Simon Jupp was chosen at a selection meeting at Exmouth Community College on Saturday, attended by more than a hundred local Conservative members. Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner, Alison Hernandez, moderated the debate of candidates.
