Sidmouth Chamber attended the last Sidmouth Town Council Environment Committee when a new Environment policy was adopted. Its mission statement is: "to coordinate and improve the natural and built environment of the Sid Valley".

We represent the Chamber four times a year at the Town Council Tourism and Economy Committee – an offshoot being a new Tourism and Festivals meeting. We recently updated all our member on the rebranding of Visit Sidmouth.

A body of a man has been found in the search for 48-year-old Mark Soutar who was reported missing from Ottery St Mary on Tuesday 22.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police issued this statement today: "Police searching for 48-year-old Mark Soutar, who had been reported missing from Ottery St Mary, have found the body of a man.

Volunteers will be trained to help review, manage, protect and enhance the heritage assets in their conservation area, such as buildings, monuments and landscapes.

These assets are an irreplaceable resource, which have helped to give East Devon towns and villages their distinctive character and add to the attraction for local residents and visitors alike.

Members of the Sidmouth Beach Management Scheme Steering Group (comprising community representatives and key stakeholders, including the Environment Agency and Sidmouth ward members) met on 22 August 2019 for an update on the project's progress, as well as a review of the rigorous data gathering and analysis carried out to identify ways of protecting the town from coastal flooding and slowing down the rate of erosion on East Beach.

Following a presentation made by the project's management team and coastal flooding specialists Royal Haskoning (East Devon's project consultants), almost unanimous agreement (bar two abstentions) was reached by the Steering Group to implement the preferred option (subject to £1.5m of partnership funding being secured).
