A murder trial following the death of a Newton Poppleford man has been delayed until September due to the coronavirus outbreak and logistical problems around social distancing.

On January 9 this year 47-year-old Geoffrey Pearce was found dead in a caravan on the outskirts of Newton Poppleford.

Sidmouth Fair Trade Group are compiling an Online Directory (in conjunction with Sidmouth Town Council) of all businesses that use or sell Fair Trade goods.

This will include hotels, restaurants, cafes, food stores as well as businesses that provide Fair Trade drinks to their customers or staff - eg hairdressers, hardware shops, solicitors etc.

While this year's Sidmouth Folk Festival will not be going ahead folk fans can look forward to a virtual version of the festival in the first week of August.

This year's Sidmouth Folk Festival was cancelled back in April due to the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak, this will be the first year without a folk festival in the town for 65 years.

The Cornish Bakery, a national award-winning bakery - with an outlet on Sidmouth High Street - has secured £1 million through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS) to support its reopening.

The business, which has 400 employees across 45 bakeries closed its doors to customers on March 23 and had to furlough all but seven of the team.
