East Devon MP Simon Jupp has given his thoughts on extending the Brexit transition period due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Summer car parking tariffs start again today in council run car parks in Sidmouth and across East Devon.

The hourly charges will remain the same, £1 per hour, but all-day tickets at long stay car parks will go up to £6, from £3, and a maximum stay ticket at a short stay car park will go up from £2 to £3.

Gyms and fitness studios have been closed since mid-March, with many - like us here at LC Fitness - moving online to keep the community's bodies and minds healthy during this tough time. We've found it a great way to keep in touch with clients, keeping them motivated, fit, and most of all sane. But there is no substitute for face-to-face sessions and the camaraderie and social aspect they bring.

Visitors and beach users in Sidmouth are being warned to stick to social distancing rules and keep public gatherings to six people or less after anti-social behaviour and rule breaking was reported across East Devon at the weekend.

As Government lock down restrictions are easing, beaches, parks and public spaces in East Devon are busier than ever and visitors are being asked to help the council keep the district tidy, behave responsibly and keep to the two metre social distancing rule.

Vehicle restrictions at Sidmouth Recycling Centre, including bicycles are being eased this week.

The move is part of the phased reopening of Devon's 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Just two deaths attributed to the coronavirus were registered in East Devon in the latest week's figures from the Office of National Statistics.

Of those two deaths one took place in a care home and the other in hospital. The week before saw three deaths; one at home, another in hospital and one at a care home.
