Memory Lane on Sid Valley Radio and Alexa

Sidmouth and the Sid Valley plus East Devon

UNTIL Sunday 26th September

Morning all,

Join me on Sunday afternoon at 4pm BST on Sid Valley Radio for our regular stroll down Memory Lane, (8am in San Francisco; 9am in Denver; 10am in Oklahoma City; 11am in New York, Orlando & Toronto; 12 noon in Trinidad; 8.30pm in Mumbai; 3am Monday in Melbourne; 5am Monday in New Zealand.)

The website is www.sidvalleyradio.co.uk and you can also hear the programme on Alexa by saying "Alexa - play Sid Valley Radio." You will be able to either text or email me whilst I'm in the studio, just like before. The contact details are: [email protected] for emails and 07565 825041 for texts. You can also go to the web page and click on the "Message the studio LIVE." It is wonderful to get your messages each week and I really hope to hear from you this Sunday.

If you have a special request or dedication for a future programme, please let me know, but if it is for a specific date, let me have at least a couple of weeks' notice so that I can fit it in!

This week it will be a 'Pot Pourri' of music from a spread of 50 years with birthday tributes to Frank DeVol, Gogi Grant, Sophia Loren, one of The Chordettes, Jimmy Young, Leonard Cohen, Joni James, Ray Charles, Carl Sigman, Herb Jeffries, Tony Newley, Al Hoffman, Frank Crumit, George Gershwin, Marty Robbins and Julie London, along with requests and dedications from you, the listeners, as well as a little "modern nostalgia."

Hopefully I'll be able to bring back some memories for you, and I'll be giving out gold stars if you remember some of the singers before I tell you who they are. In addition I'll also introduce you to some singers whom you've either forgotten, or maybe missed altogether, first time around.

Two hours of our sort of music, around 25 songs, without too much chat.

For all those who can't listen to the live broadcast, Bob kindly puts the programme onto the Sid Valley Radio website the next day and it can be heard on and/or downloaded from there. Simply go to the 'Podcasts' button and scroll down the page a short way until you see "Down Memory Lane." David will also be putting a link on the Memory Lane Facebook page - and thanks to him for all his help, too.

I look forward to speaking to you on Sunday and I would especially love to get a message from someone from the local area who has seldom or never messaged the studio before! Go on, do it for me!! I hope you enjoy the music!

Please take care, stay safe and if you haven't done it yet, get both the vaccines or the booster if it is offered. The new variants of Covid are spreading fast!

Nick.
