Memory Lane on Sid Valley Radio and Alexa

Sidmouth and the Sid Valley plus East Devon and world-wide.

UNTIL Sunday 24th October

Morning all,

Join me on Sunday afternoon at 4pm BST on Sid Valley Radio for our regular stroll down Memory Lane, (8am in San Francisco; 9am in Denver; 10am in Oklahoma City; 11am in New York, Orlando & Toronto; 12 noon in Trinidad; 8.30pm in Mumbai; Midnight in Okinawa, 3am Monday in Melbourne; 5am Monday in New Zealand.)

The clocks in UK will go back one hour at 2am Sunday 31st October.

The website is www.sidvalleyradio.co.uk and you can also hear the programme on Alexa by saying "Alexa - play Sid Valley Radio." You will be able to either text or email me whilst I'm in the studio, just like before. The contact details are: [email protected] for emails and 07565 825041 for texts. You can also go to the web site or phone app and click on "Message the studio LIVE." It is wonderful to get your messages each week and I really hope to hear from you this Sunday. If you have a special request or dedication for a future programme, please let me know, but if it is for a specific date, let me have a couple of weeks notice so that I can fit it in!

This week will be a 'Pot Pourri' of music from a spread of nearly 40 years with birthday tributes to Anita O'Day, Melina Mercouri, Cynthia Weil, Alfredo Campoli, one of The Inkspots, Jerry Orbach, Wanda Jackson, Kathy Kirby, Georgia Brown, Dickie Pride and Diana Dors, along with requests and dedications from you, the Memory Lane family, including a little "modern nostalgia."

Hopefully I'll be able to bring back some memories for you, and I'll be giving out gold stars if you remember some of these singers before I tell you who they are. In addition I'll also introduce you to some singers whom you've either forgotten, or maybe missed altogether, first time around.

Two hours of our sort of music, around 25 songs, without too much chat.

For all those who can't listen to the live broadcast, Bob puts the programme onto the website the next day and it can be heard on, and/or downloaded from, the Sid Valley Radio website. Simply go to the 'Podcasts' button and scroll down the page a short way until you see "Down Memory Lane." David will also be putting the links on the Facebook page - and thanks to him for all his help, too.

I look forward to speaking to you on Sunday - I am so sorry not to have been able to go into the studio for the past three weeks, but my voice totally deserted me accompanied by some other problems, of which more anon. I have been deluged by messages and cards from so many of you and I have not been able to read them yet, but I will and I shall reply to you, but in the meantime thank you so much. You really are a wonderful and truly humbling family.

Please take care, stay safe, get both the vaccines and if you are offered it, the booster. The Delta variant of Covid is changing again and becoming even more transmissible!

Nick.
