Sidmouth care home up for multiple awards after tough year
An 'outstanding' Sidmouth care home is up for multiple awards.
Arcot House has been nominated as a finalist for Care Home of the Year at the National Care Awards 2020.
As well as this, its senior manager Samantha Evens has been nominated as a finalist for Care Home Manager of the Year.
Not to mention Arcot House has also been rated 'outstanding' in every category by industry watchdogs - the Care Quality Commission.
Samantha said: "In our last two inspections, the Care Quality Commission recognised that our residents were at the heart of our service and we consistently provided a high level of care.
"They subsequently rated us Outstanding in all five domains of inspection.
"The ethos of our home is that of an extended family, of which our staff, residents and relatives are an important part of.
"After a very unusual year with the pandemic, we have remained Covid-free and this is down to the dedicated staff team we have.
"This (the nomination for Care Home of the Year) is further recognition of everybody's hard work and dedication.
"I have also been nominated as a finalist for Care Home Manager of the Year at the same awards.
"To be up for this prestigious award is down to having such amazing teams who work together and valuing people.
"Judging takes place on Wednesday, November 25, so we are keeping our fingers crossed."
General manager Amy Burt added: "I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to my director, Keith Mills of Doveleigh Care Ltd, for nominating me for the Area Manager of the Year at the 2020 National Care Awards.
"To find out that I subsequently made it through to the national final is extremely exciting and very rewarding."
