The team behind Battle Cancer, the world's leading fitness fundraising event organiser, has announced the opening of their first Move Forward Gym in Ottery St Mary, opening next weekend (October 3).

Built in partnership with the UK's leading equipment provider, BLK BOX, Move Forward Gym will offer a brand new, premium, functional fitness training facility at an affordable price, with free memberships to NHS patient referrals, as well as a special program for those in post-cancer recovery from their team of professional trainers.

Drawing on the disciplines of 'functional fitness', Move Forward Gym will be offering a range of fitness classes including speciality skills such as Conditioning, Weightlifting and Gymnastics, along with its own unique brand of accessible classes.

Open seven days a week, the gym is set to offer members over 40 classes per week, off-peak training sessions, a hi-tech Recovery Zone with Hyperice and Normatec equipment, custom rig, lifting platforms, on-site physio, member hang-out and workspace plus on-site F&B, serving protein shakes, smoothies and snacks all in its 3,000 sq ft training facility.

Founder, Scott Britton said: "Move Forward Gym has been designed to be premium, accessible and affordable, with every small detail and decision being based on our members and how to support people through fitness and community. Our collective goal is to use fitness as a tool for mental and physical recovery for all."

The gym was founded and funded by the team behind Battle Cancer. Move Forward Gym is a brand-new venture, which acts as an extension of the Battle Cancer Move Forward Programme, a global initiative creating a network of fitness professionals trained to serve those during, or post cancer treatment, which launched in May 2020.

To celebrate the launch, Move Forward Gym is running a Founding Member offer and will be providing free trial sessions in its first week of launch – the October 3 to October 10.
