'Tis The Season for Balance' says Sidmouth fitness instructor

The holidays are finally upon us, which means it's the season of eating too much, drinking too much, and doing too little.
Everything is met with a "why not, it's Christmas!" attitude, meaning your regular routine goes out of the window until the New Year.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But it's definitely not a sustainable attitude and isn't good for your overall health.
I'm not suggesting you spend Christmas Day at the gym (I certainly won't be!) but try not to slouch on the sofa for three days straight. Go for a walk and get some fresh air or maybe even take part in Sidmouth's Boxing Day swim!
If you do over-indulge, don't beat yourself up - we all do it. A new year brings a new opportunity to start afresh.
Gym memberships see a massive spike in January (sometimes as much as 50%) but, after the initial enthusiasm dies down and you're back choosing the sofa over the treadmill, you're often tied into a year-long membership spending anything from £20 to £150 per month.
There are plenty of other options out there to help get your fitness and health back on track after all that turkey and mince pies.
Find a friend with similar goals to go out running with or perhaps try group exercises at a smaller boutique studio where you aren't tied into a membership.
The social aspect means you're more likely to keep up your new routine and gives you the chance to meet new friends.
So, in January, don't beat yourself up. Be good to yourself and maybe sign up to a class or two. We'd love to see you at the LC Fitness studio!
