A week after Branscombe's 'rubbish parking' story hit the headlines, the waste remains uncollected

The story of Branscombe residents' fury over uncollected rubbish has certainly been doing the rounds - but the recycling lorry hasn't.

Last Tuesday, after three weeks of missed collections, villagers saw red when a motorist left their car parked in a Keep Clear zone, potentially blocking the recycling lorry's route.

They surrounded the car with their bags of uncollected rubbish and posted photos on social media. The story was inititally reported by Sidmouth Nub News and then picked up by the national press and even a US website.

Seven days later, Branscome is still waiting to have a month's worth of recycling picked up.

In the meantime, East Devon District Council has apologised for the disruption to waste collections across the area - but said the problems are likely to continue 'for the foreseeable future', until a national shortage of staff at waste and recycling operators has been tackled: read more here.
