Man pronounced dead at scene on Sidmouth seafront

Update 5.25pm: A man has been pronounced dead at the scene on Sidmouth seafront, according to police.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 2.20pm on Thursday 24 November following concern for the welfare of a man found on rocks at The Esplanade, Sidmouth.

"HM Coastguard, RNLI, and ambulance attended.

"The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Police are carrying out enquiries to establish the identity of the man and locate his next of kin. 

"The death is not believed suspicious at this time."


Police are currently at Sidmouth seafront after reports of a body being found this afternoon (Thursday 24 November).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were contacted at around 2.20pm to The Esplanade, Sidmouth, following reports that a body had been located.

"Officers are currently on the scene."
