Sidmouth Youth Centre is throwing open its doors to offer support to young people affected by the tragic news emerging from Sidmouth today.

Police confirmed earlier today that a child lost their life at a property in Sidmouth yesterday evening.

In response Young Devon's Sidmouth Youth Centre is inviting youngsters and adults to the centre tonight for a candlelit vigil.

The centre, on Manstone Lane, will be open between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Young Devon youth worker Hannah Vicarage said: "I think young people feel very helpless at times like this and I hope we can give them something to do, a way to express themselves and a safe space to process what has happened.

"We want to provide a safe and secure place for young people in the area who have been affected by the awful news emerging today."

Young Devon is providing extra staff to the youth centre tonight to help people of all ages come to terms with the loss.
