On what would had been Phyllis's 75th birthday, we are pleased to let her friends and relatives know that a suggestion has been put forward by a parishioner for a commemorative plaque to be erected in her memory.

The suggestion was put to the Mayor of Ottery St Mary Town Council at the February full Council meeting and the Council resolved that a plaque for Phyllis is to be erected outside the new library.

The proposed engraving is to be proof read and the plaque is to be of an appropriate material and style.

We shall keep you updated you with future developments. In the meantime we hope you all are as happy as we are knowing that the "best ambassador Ottery ever had" is going to have a special place in the town.

This is so visitors and residents can remember Phyllis for the great job she did in her 10 years as Manager of the OSM Tourist Information Office.

Known as "The Photographer" undoubtedly Phyllis will always be remembered for her love of photography and how she made Ottery St Mary known through the numerous photos she took of the town and surrounding areas.

The Friends of the Ottery Library (FOOL) launched a FoneSnap competition in 2017 for children to take a prize-winning photo, using only their mobile phone.

The picture had to link to the theme "who needs words" and the then Pullman newspaper sponsored the winning prize.

The Friends of Ottery Library (FOOL) launched the contest to encourage more teenagers to use the town's new library.

The competition showcased young photographers and visitors to the library chose their winner from a display of 50 of the best photographs.

Phyllis was delighted with the response, as young photographers proved that photography was still in the mind of future generations.

Wouldn't be lovely to bring back this competition as an annual event to take place every February 15?
