Council flags up funding for sports clubs

Sidmouth Town Council is encouraging local sports clubs to apply for funding to help them survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sport England is offering match funding of up to £10,000 for organisations that play a part in keeping their communities fit and active.

The aim is to help make up for the lack of income during lockdown, when the clubs' normal events couldn't take place, and help ensure that they can start up again when the restrictions are lifted.

To be eligible for funding under the Return to Play: Active Together fund, applicants must be a local sports club, or a charity/social enterprise/volunteer group that delivers sport or other physical activities in its community, even if it is not primarily a sports organisation.

This is in addition to pledges on Crowdfunder of up to £10,000 available from Crowdfund East Devon, which is run by the district council.

Clubs may also be eligible for this, although EDDC can't fund ongoing costs: more information here
