Sidmouth Lions Club has announced the date for its annual 'Duck Derby' fundraiser.

The event, which sees thousands of sponsored rubber ducks race down the River Sid in The Byes, will take place on Sunday 16 July from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Money raised this year will go towards Guide Dogs for the Blind and Sidmouth Lions Club's charity activities.

There will also be over £1,000 of cash prizes to be won by the sponsors of the 19 winning ducks.

A Sidmouth Lions Club spokesperson said: "Why not buy some duck tickets and come along to Sidmouth's delightful Byes parkland on July 16 to cheer on the little yellow ducks as they race down the River Sid?

"You may also enjoy the land-based 'duck-and-spoon' family fun races and the Taste ice creams which will be on sale."

Tickets costing £1 each for the yellow ducks can now be purchased.

They are available from Sidmouth Lions stands outside the Co-op or the nearby Coastline Mobility shop, from 10am to early afternoon on most days (apart from Sundays) and outside the Lidl store on Saturdays 1, 8 and 15 July.

The tickets are also on sale at Paper Moon at 38 Fore Street, 83 for Cards on High Street and Woolbrook News.
