The Conservative MP for East Devon has voted to approve a report that found former PM Boris Johnson misled MPs over the Partygate scandal.

Simon Jupp, whose constituency includes Sidmouth, also called for him "to do the decent thing and resign" in July last year.

The Privileges Committee report, published on Thursday, details how Johnson "deliberately misled" Parliament over lockdown parties during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The number of Conservative MPs who voted to approve the report in a free vote on Monday (19 June) was 118, while seven voted against and 225 abstained or did not attend.

Simon Jupp MP said: "After a busy few days in the constituency, I read the Committee of Privileges report over the weekend.

"The report details a number of serious breaches of Parliamentary standards and Covid-19 restrictions.

"I voted to support the recommendations of the report."
