A sign marking the end of the dog ban zone on Sidmouth's Jacobs Ladder Beach has been set on fire by vandals.

The sign helped dog walkers understand which parts of the beach are dog friendly and which parts are not.

A recent renewal of Public Space Protection Orders relating to dog walkers has proved controversial to some.

A spokesperson for East Devon District Council said: "Big 'thanks' to the intellectual Goliath who thought this was a good idea. This used to be the sign marking the end of the dog ban area at Jacobs ladder beach. We'll replace it ASAP."

Nub News has contacted East Devon District Council for more information.
