Family tribute to man killed in Newton Poppleford road accident

The family of a 93-year-old man fatally injured in a road accident in Newton Poppleford just before Christmas have issued a tribute to him.

Ken Cooper was walking in the High Street when he was involved in a collision with a car.

He died in hospital on December 26.

On Wednesday, January 6, Mr Cooper's family released a joint statement:

"On the early evening of 23rd December, Ken Cooper, a resident of Newton Poppleford since 2000, was involved in a road traffic accident in the High Street Newton Poppleford.

"He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital at Exeter Wonford.

"Sadly, at 2am on 26th December, he passed away.

"He leaves behind his widow, Mary, and a large and loving family.

"We would respectfully ask that our privacy be respected at this very sad time.

"Details of the funeral will be announced at a later date."
