Sidmouth and the surrounding area were shown at their best in the year's first episode of Escape to the Country.

In the BBC property show, presenter Jules Hudson escorted Brighton couple Chris and Sarah around potential new homes and pointed out the area's beautiful countryside and coastline.

Scenic shots of Beer, Branscombe, Seaton Wetlands and Sidbury were featured in the episode, which also included a viewing of a £1.2million home in Sidbury.

Jules talked about the often high property prices in the area, but said local residents were able to enjoy a lifestyle others could experience only when on holiday.
