A dog has been rescued by Sidmouth firefighters after getting trapped in a ravine in Harpford Woods.

The dog owner called the fire service after their terrier got stuck in the ravine in a stream at about 10.20 this morning.

A fire officer went to assess the situation, and a fire appliance from Sidmouth was mobilised, along with the specialist animal rescue equipment from Exmouth.

Fire crews made their way to the trapped dog after finding a suitable pathway down to the creek.

They freed the dog and put it into a pet carrier to take it back to its owner.
