Light Aircraft Incident at Blacpool Corner, Devon

Date: 21.08.2018Time: 13:30Location: Blacpool Corner, DevonThe fire service were called to a light aircraft that had crashed.One crew from Axminster, one crew from Lyme Regis and the specialist rescue vehicle and support pump from Middlemoor attended.On arrival the crews confirmed that a light aircraft had crashed in a field adjacent to a solar panel farm but that the panels had not been involved.The plane itself was seventy percent severely damaged by the fire and two male casualties suffered from cuts and bruises to the face and head and were treated on scene by fire and ambulance personnel.The crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to ensure the area was safe.The incident was left in the hands of the police.
