Ottery St Mary Police have responded after reports of a young girl being chased and asked if she wanted 'to play a little game' have been circulating on social media.

In a statement released today, PCSO Jonathan Sims said: "Following reports on Ottery Matters that a young girl was chased home by a male last night near to Butts road Ottery St Mary.

"May I please reassure all members of the community that although this did take place, it was a young male from the town being silly and not thinking about the consequences.

"I am completely satisfied that the young male was just being stupid, and he has apologised for his actions.

"He will be dealt with by Ottery Police for Anti-Social Behaviour."
