Home Instead Exeter and East Devon have recognised the outstanding work of two of their Caregivers during 2020, by awarding them both Caregiver of the year.

Gill Vosper from Sidmouth and Francesca White from Exeter were nominated by their colleagues for the top-quality care and support they have provided to their clients during an extremely difficult year.

Gill joined Home Instead in March 2017. She had previously worked with children but adapted to the role beautifully. Gill was nominated for planning tailored activities such as making a Christmas pudding with a client who loves Christmas, and always ensuring her visits are stimulating and enjoyable for her clients. Other reasons given were Gill's excellent support of clients living with dementia and for being a competent, insightful and respected member of the team.

Gill said: "Winning Caregiver of the Year is just amazing- to be recognised by my peers and the office. I didn't expect it at all, I just love my job and do what I do and to have this certificate is just amazing. It's really blown me away at the end of an incredibly challenging year, but something that was very special."

Francesca joined the company in June 2019 and quickly became a highly valued member of the team. Some of the reasons her colleagues gave for nominating Francesca were her warm, friendly and upbeat manner, the person-centred activities she plans for her clients and the support she gives to new Caregivers joining the team.

Francesca said: "This is amazing! I'd like to thank everyone for their beautifully kind comments, it really does mean the world to me. Thank you all so much, I feel so supported and loved by you all!"

Francesca and Gill each received a certificate, flowers, chocolates and a bottle of Champagne.
