Road closures planned in Sidmouth for gas pipe works
Gas pipe works are set to begin in Sidmouth next week, bringing with them a series of road closures lasting several weeks.
Energy company Wales & West Utilities will begin the £330k works on Monday 31 October and aims to finish in May 2023, barring any engineering difficulties.
Road closures planned include:
- Hillside Road from 31 October to 23 December;
- Laskeys Lane from 12 November to 23 December;
- The access road from Cliff Road which leads to Laskeys Road from 14 to 25 November.
Additional traffic management will be in place between January and May 2023.
The company has said it will be in touch with local residents and businesses that may be affected by the work directly.
Wales & West Utilities spokesperson Jake Sami said: "We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We'll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.
"This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future."
The company is inviting people to get in touch if they have questions on 0800 912 2999, social media or at [email protected].
