Plans to allow static caravans at Salcombe Regis Camping and Caravan Park have been refused.

Rejecting the application for a certificate of lawfulness, East Devon District Council said the siting of "an unfettered number of static caravans" would be "tantamount to a material change in use of the land" and so need planning permission.

Local residents had protested against the plans, receiving the support of Conservative MP for East Devon Simon Jupp, whose constituency includes Salcombe Regis.
