Sid Valley Conservatives held their AGM at the Conservative Club in Sidmouth with Simon Card, Chairman, reporting on an excellent year.

Under recent boundary changes the old Constituency of East Devon ceased to exist on the day prior to the branch AGM and the vesting of the new Constituency of Honiton and Sidmouth took place on the day of the AGM.

Simon said: "This was a historic day for this part of Devon as according to the Electoral Reform Society East Devon Constituency and its precursors had been held by the Conservative Party since 1835, this was the longest held seat by any party anywhere in the country.

"We intend to continue this trend well in to the future!"

A survey conducted across the Sid Valley in recent months produced some very useful feedback about voter's concerns and issues as well as a good number of people expressing an interest in joining the party as well as helping with leaflet distribution and other activities.

Simon Jupp MP, who lives in Sidmouth, was unable to attend the meeting due to a heavy parliamentary schedule but sent a full report about his extensive activities across the area in the last year.

The Chairman thanked all the members that had helped to elect two new members to join Cllr Stuart Hughes as councillors for the Sid Valley in recent elections – Mike Goodman (EDDC) and Sophie Richards (Town Council).
