Sidmouth 5-year-old raises over £500 for NHS riding his bike
A boy from Sidmouth has exceeded his fundraising target by over 500% with 12 days remaining of a self-set cycle month challenge.
Toby Hodgson, 5, was inspired by local runner Zaq Bevan who last month completed half a marathon a day raising over £3,000 for NHS Charities Together.
Toby's mum, Gemma Hodgson, told Sidmouth Nub News: "We saw Zaq out running on day and when I explained to Toby what he was doing and why, he said 'I'd like to do that'.
"His idea was to raise money for the doctors and nurses who are looking after us by riding his bike every day in July and to raise £105 - I think he chose that number because it sounded like a lot and had the number five in it, which is his age."
The Toby's cycling month Just Giving page now has a whooping £535, with 12 days still to go!
"We go out every morning at 6.30am, which is why Toby often wears his pyjamas" Gemma continued.
"This is so that we can complete a distance of around 4k and be back in time for breakfast and getting ready for school.
"It's also quieter at that time. I ride along with him with my daughter in a bike seat."
