Sidmouth broadband speeds among worst in UK, data shows

A new 2022 dataset published on the UK Parliament website means Sidmouth residents can now see how fast their internet is.

It shows average download speeds, as well as superfast and gigabit availability, and the percentage of homes that have especially slow broadband.

The data is broken down by parliamentary constituency and smaller areas.

Sidmouth falls far behind the UK national average download speed of 86.5Mbps and is marked as being in the worst 10 per cent of areas in the country.

Sidmouth

- Average download speed (Mbps): 44

- Superfast availability: 94.3%

- Gigabit availability: 7.9%

- Lines receiving under 10 Mbps: 4.6%

Sidford

- Average download speed (Mbps): 41.5

- Superfast availability: 97.6%

- Gigabit availability: 0.7%

- Lines receiving under 10 Mbps: 9.6%

Sidbury, Offwell and Beer

- Average download speed (Mbps): 33.9

- Superfast availability: 66.5%

- Gigabit availability: 2%

- Lines receiving under 10 Mbps: 21.3%

Poppleford, Otterton and Woodbury

- Average download speed (Mbps): 43.5

- Superfast availability: 89.4%

- Gigabit availability: 34.7%

- Lines receiving under 10 Mbps: 15.3%

UK (average)

- Average download speed (Mbps): 86.5

- Superfast availability: 95%

- Gigabit availability: 45.7%
